Clinch-Powell Educational Cooperative (CPEC) and Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) have partnered to co-host the sixth grade Science Fairs in Claiborne, Campbell, Scott, Hancock, Grainger and Union Counties. The winners from each school enter their projects into the bigger contest that is judged by LMU math and science students. Through this partnership, CPEC and LMU are promoting STEM activities and the importance of these activities in children's overall educational experience.
2022 Science Fair
Last school year, the efffects of and restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic prohibited CPEC and LMU from sponsoring the annual Science Fair. Thankfully, the improving pandemic conditions allowed the Science Fair to resume for it's 9th year in this 2021-2022 school year. Of the counties that participated, 17 students presented excellent projects resulting in LMU student judges finding it difficult to choose the top five. The Winners are as follows:
5th - Kyler Greer, Joppa Elementary School, Grainger County 4th - Taylor Marlowe, White Oak Elementary School, Campbell County 3rd - Avery Cobb, Clairfield Elementary School, Claiborne County 2nd - Presley McKenney, Rutledge Elementary, Grainger County 1st - Aaron Massengill - Powell Valley Elementary, Claiborne County
Thank you to all the students who participated in this year's Science Fair. We look forward to seeing all the innovative projects in 2023.
