Mapping can be a powerful tool to better understand the challenges
facing communities in many public policy arenas. While the use of
mapping quickly appears to be relevant to housing and community
development initiatives, place-based analysis of data is now being used
to address public health, law enforcement, early childhood and
children's safety issues.
CPEC staff have significant expertise in geographic information systems
(GIS) and the maps that can be produced using this sophisticated
software. CPEC has mapped both readily available statewide data
-- and mapped otherwise unavailable street and parcel level data
collected in our City Scan program.
CPEC has launched a website to make communities aware of the power of mapping. This site -- CTAtlas -- includes both static and interactive maps.
